Hey bub,
If you caught yesterday’s update, you’ll know I’ve decided to shake things up a bit. Going forward, I’m giving a lot more space in this newsletter to the folks who need it most—indie creators. Mainstream comics already have huge communities, tons of attention, and dedicated followings behind them. They’re doing just fine.
That’s not to say I don’t love the big names and the talented people behind them—I absolutely do. But since day one, my mission has always been to support indie creators however I can. Giving them more visibility here is just me staying true to that goal.
That said, not everything is changing. I’ll still be covering major news from the mainstream side of the industry, because that stuff matters too. It impacts everyone, and I know a lot of you come here for those updates as well. So the first part of the newsletter will stay just the way it is.
Thanks for reading!

Marvel Studios unveiled the cast for the upcoming film 'Avengers: Doomsday' through a five-hour livestream. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. returns as the villain Doctor Doom, marking a significant shift in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is set for release on May 1, 2026. DC Comics' 'Absolute Martian Manhunter' Debuts
The new series by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez offers a dark reimagining of the Martian Manhunter. Notably, the physical copies feature a unique double-sided printing technique that enhances the storytelling experience, an effect lost in digital formats.
Skybound’s 2024 Success
Skybound, known for The Walking Dead and Invincible, reported selling 4.5 million comics in 2024, a milestone shared in the last week. This figure underscores the publisher’s strong performance in the indie comic space, with titles like Bitter Root also making waves upon its return last week.

Letters from the Creator
This week marks a major shift for this newsletter. On the surface, it might seem like just another Wednesday drop, but behind the scenes, the decisions I made last week will hopefully shape this project for as long as it exists.
Some things I've built on my own have found success. But others, especially in this industry, rely on building real relationships. That's the key: finding the right people and making it easier for them to find you.
Right now, I believe I’m forming relationships that will last for years. Even more importantly, I’m setting up systems so creators can reach out when they need support. Whether that’s a social media push, a feature in the newsletter, or something else entirely, these processes are starting to take shape. They’re still in the early stages, but they’re real and growing.
As of today, more than 30 individual creators have reached out for help. Can I review and feature all of them in a timely way? We’ll find out. But what I do know is that some have already received the support they needed, and the rest know it’s on the way.
Just to be clear, this isn’t a paid service. No one is paying to be featured in this newsletter, and I hope to keep it that way for as long as I can.
On the next Issue
I have a whole bunch of comics to review but I will try to put more of my time on the ones currently with a Crowdfunding campaign that is active.
Here’s a few in the pipeline
Banana Blitz! - Book One by Brian Dome→ http://kck.st/3Yax1NK
Futility Shapes: a dark sci-fi / horror one-shot comic by Edward Kane → http://kck.st/4iXhKZn
Zombie Date Night 2: A Zombie Romance Comedy Sequel by Steve Urena→ http://kck.st/3EyooWo
Museum of the Uncanny: All-New Comics Anthology → Launching soon
Edges of Oblivion → Launching soon
Those last two I believe include multiple authors & artists including Simon Birch. Check out “Over the Top”, Simon’s two-page post-apocalyptic story and then you’ll want to read what he writes on Museaum of the Uncanny and Edges of Oblivion.
Thanks for reading and for helping make all of this possible.
